The simplest thing would be to check the "fan switch" on your thermostat. It needs to be set on "auto" as opposed to "on."
The next thing might be that the control wires are crossed. Finally it could be the fan limit is sticking causing it to run continuously.
I have attached link to a web page detailing how older furnaces work.

Interesting, our furnace does the same thing, but only in the fall when the temperature is about 50-55 degrees outside.
When the temp is real cold it works perfectly.
I have not figured it out, but two falls in a row it has done this.
We have a 98% efficient furnace, and I know that the air is supposed to continue to circulate for awhile after the flame shuts down. It even sometime restarts without the flame going on when it's working normally.
I'm thinking that there is a circuit in the furnace that is monitoring temperature at the outlet of the heater coil and this tells the fan when to shut off. Perhaps this is even on the combustion outlet of the furnace.
When it's cool outside, but not cold, it never hits that temperature so the fan keeps running.
Don't know for sure though. If there is a furnace instrumentation expert there I'd like to know the answer to this one also.

Thermostat, sensor, or bad contact.
1 - Many thermostats have a "fan only" feature, does yours? If so, make sure it is in AUTO. Turn it to OFF and see if it turns the fan off. If there is an ON setting and it is set there, it will stay on.
2 -The fan will always run if the heater is on.
3 - Also, if there is a bad temperature sensor in the burner area, it may be telling the fan to stay on because the fan stays on until the burner chamber cools to a certain level.
4 - The contact that opens and closes the power to the fan is stuck closed.
Any of these, and it should be an easy fix for a technician.
