I do not think she is necessarily trying to be like Marilyn Monroe, but rather a pinup-like model of the 40's and 50's. You can see in her videos the looks change. In her "Ain't No Other Man" she takes her looks from the '40s. In her "Hurt" video the style is definitely more late '20s and early '30s. Marilyn Monroe hit her biggest star in the mid '50s. I think that Christina is just trying to bring the classic look back, with a neutral eye and red lips. If she was really trying to be like Marilyn, she would be sleeping with every guy she met, have an affair with the President and his brother, and be addicted to drugs. Christina is doing the smartest showbiz trick---she's reinventing herself so she is new and fresh with every album (think Madonna.)

Not really.The cabaret look is in.Besides,alot of fashion is Marilyn Monroe inspired.She looks more like a drag queen with all the make up she wears.
