my dad died when i was 11, the one thing that i remember clearly was when i was 6 or 7. me, my sis and my bro was at the entry of a park. this girl was bullying us and she pinched my brother in the privates and started on my sister. i was crying so loud my dad heard us all and he came running out of the house and chased after this girl. he caught her and made her apologise to us. and he took her home and made her explain to her parents what she did to us. she never came near us after that. my dad was my hero.

Usually, my dad was too busy to be bothered by us kids. He worked six days a week at a job and then tried to farm on the side. Many times he never came in for supper until 10:00 at night. Mother thought the family should eat as a group, so we were not allowed to eat until he came in. He was always kind of grumpy from working so much, and basically us kids were afraid of him. The one time, I remember him doing something just for me was one Sunday afternoon when he took me out rabbit hunting. There were a bunch of jack rabbits in the fields around our place and he took me out hunting and even let me shoot the rifle once. That was the first and last time he did something like that, but it was great.

I remember doing lots of active stuff with my dad. Two of my favorites are going hunting (quail) and learning to ride a jetski. Back then, jetskis were the size of small cars of today - I mean, they were HUGE! AT 10 years old, trying to wrap yourself around the seat, and holding on for DEAR LIFE to your dad's jacket...
That was fun. Made me smile just now thinking of it. GREAT question!

There are several - now that he has passed away.
When I had strep throat in fifth grade - he had a 2nd shift job and he was home to take care of me. It was the most quality time he really spent time with me. My mother worked 1st shift.

The two of us went on holiday back in the 70s, cuz our interests were much the same.
We went to England twice, and to Italy once, and they were great holidays! I cherish those memories.

Him coming to every single softball and volleyball and basketball game no matter what. I took advantage of it and just expected him to be there, but now I truly appreciate his support... Mom came too.
