I have a six-month-old daughter who, ever since birth, has favored the right side while nursing. Even just before she was born, when just my colostrum was coming in, my right side produced more than the left, and continues to be this way even now. Because of this one-sided favoritism, I always nurse her on the less-favored side first, and while she clearly isn't overjoyed about it, she will usually nurse on that side for about five or ten minutes. However, in the last day or two, she has gone on strike against that side completely, and won't settle down to really nurse well until I switch her to the right side. What can I do about this? Could this just be a phase? I still offer the left side every time, but is there anything I can do to get her to nurse longer on that side? Thanks!

My 3mos old does the sme thing although he has never complealty gone on strike! but have you checked to see if maybe you had a blockage and thats why she doesn't want to nurse b/c she sin't getting much out? just as idea...but i'd keep offering it maybe feed on the side she likes 1st for a couple min then switch and see if maybe you milk will let down better and then try her on the other side when she's not so hungry and maybe she will nurse better...good luck and don't give up!

Probably there's nothing you can do. If you have a breastpump, you can try to increase the milk supply for the "bad" breast, but pumping is not as effective as nursing for this. The "good" breast will compensate and produce enough milk for your baby even if she never nurses from the other breast again. You can still try offering the left side, but if it pisses her off, I'd let it go. If/when your breasts get lopsided (the nursing one is going to be bigger than the other one), you can use a pad or something in your bra to look more even. When you stop nursing, they should return to being the same size.
The mistake I made with this problem was obsessing about it. There's probably nothing wrong with your left breast, it's just your baby's preference!

I think it's probably a phase too. Maybe she has a little cold or some congestion and one side hurts. My daughter was such a finicky nurser, It seemed I was always pumping on the left and nursing on the right. Look at it this way, weaning is only a few months off, right?

I had this same problem with my 6 week old the nurses at the hospital told me just to keep offering him the other breast. But they also told me to try and trick him by letting him start off on the breast that he favored and then move him to the other one. Now he will eat from both of them. I don't know if this will help but I hope it does. Good luck.

Try "slide over" nursing. Start her on her prefered side in the cradle hold. Then slide her straight across your body so she is then latched on to the left side with her feet to your left as well.

Maybe the milk flows slower on the left side. Try doing breast compressions while nursing on that side.

She may be more willing to take the least favorite side if she is half-asleep.

pores and skin to pores and skin contact is all it takes to move HPV. the aldera will certainly help suppress the virus, yet you'd be a service for life, and also you'd be able to transmit it too. Suppression will basically ward off the arrival of the genital warts and so on, it received't remedy nor will it ward off transmission.

Try feeding her in a different position on that side. Maybe position her so that she is in the same position she would be if she was nursing on the right side so she can't tell the difference.
