I find the use of "interface" to describe interactions between humans to be somewhat dehumanizing. Strictly or conventionally speaking, the word refers to a connection between hardware and/or software components. It's also used to the describe the interaction between a human and a machine or system.

Your phrase "studies on children with autism interfacing (with) adults" might be better worded with something like "interacting with adults" or "relating to adults".
