If you are orbiting earth the sun does not necessarily rise and set every 15 minutes. That would depend on which direction you are rotating around the earth. Now it is true that some satellites orbit the earth about once every 16 minutes. However, If you are in outer space (the space just outside the earth's atmosphere) it would not be completely dark. Even if the earth is between you and the sun because the Moon will still reflect some of the light from the sun toward you. On Earth the atmosphere actually dulls the moon so it should be brighter 'up' there.

depends if during daylight,if the sun is up on the side you went into outer space! It would also depend if you left at night and if you were on the side the moon was shinning!
