You don't have any leaks and the fan works so the possibilities are thermostat, water pump going out but hasn't blown the seal yet and a pluged radiator and sometimes a collasped lower hose.

I would bet water pump. The original pumps (assuming this one is) have a tendency of having the impeller erode away over time. If you have this replaced, make sure they replace the timing belt at the same time. This is normal maintenance on your car and removing the water pump is the biggest part of the job.

Partially plugged radiator, slipping water pump drive belt, retarded ignition timing, thermostat stuck, these are a few of the things.....

it could be blown head gasket
fins on water pump worn away (normal) check coolent flow when thermostate opens thermostate may be jamed close
radiator internal or external blocked
fins on radiator external may be gone
all these are the problems for over heating check them all and the problem will show itself
