Not everyone is hard wired in their brains to be a Java programmer. Nor are they all wired to become doctors or rocket scientists.

I've found in teaching programming that people either have a "knack" for it or they don't. I encourage those who don't to took into other professions. If you want to continue working in programming, you'll need to work that much harder at it to become successful.

Are you programming because of the money and job opportunities? Take a look at what YOUR strengths and talents are and look into other areas that could be of benefit. Computers and programming are not the panacea promised by the TV commercials...so don't listen to them.

Trust me, you struggle with programming and you'll end up burning yourself out somewhere down the road.

How about taking a logic class at a community college? That really opened my eyes.

Also, try looking at word problems like the ones on the LSAT - maybe get a book that gives you the problems and tells you how to solve them.
