Yeah, something to do with it. A compound is a single chemical in which the atoms are actually bonded together -- every molecule of a compound consists of the same number of each type of constituent element. So pure water -- H2O -- always has two hydrogens and one oxygen atom, and it never has anything else bonded to it, or else we couldn't call it water. A mixture is a where you have more than one compound in your container, with one interspersed in another, but which don't actually bond to create a third, new compound. So soda is a mixture, for instance, being water, carbon dioxide, sugar, phosphoric acid and some sort of artificial colors and flavors added in -- each compound retains its properties in the mixture, but they're mixed together, and given a little bit of effort, you can separate them into their constituent parts (let the CO2 bubble out, and you could boil the remainder to evaporate the water, etc.)

Mixtures are formed when different substances come together without reacting together. Compounds are formed when elements or other compounds react together in a chemical reaction.

Mixtures are not bonded to each other. Compounds are made of elements bonded together.

Mixtures have the properties of all the substances within it. Compounds have different properties from its components.

Examples of mixtures - air, sea water
Examples of compounds - salt (sodium chloride), sugar

Mixtures are not chemically bonded to each other and can be separated easily, like a dish full of salt and sugar.
A compound is made up of two or more elements, chemically bonded together and it's a lot harder to separate. Salt is a compound of sodium and chlorine.

a compound is two or more elements held together by a chemical reaction...
a mixture is when two or more elements are present but are not held together by a chemical reaction...

eg.. a mixture of iron and sulphur can be easily seperated using a magnet ad iron is magnetic but the compound iron sulphide is very hard to separate as they have been joined in a chemical reactionn...

signs that a chemical reaction has taken place are:

a colour change
a gas been given off (bubbles are present)
a precipitate formed (a solid formed when mixing two liquids)
a temperature change (exothermic or endothermic reaction)

In compounds, the ingredients chemically bond together into something new, so that you can't take out any of the original ingredients. In mixtures, the ingredients do not chemically bond, and each ingredient retains its own chemical properties. It might be hard to do (think mixing a cake), but you can theoretically separate all the ingredients and get exactly what you put in.

Compounds are bound by chemical bonds (i.e. ionic or covalent bonding) and cannot be broken up easily. Mixtures can be separated relatively easily. For example, Salt Water is a mixture of salt (typically the compund NaCl), and water, H2O. While the salt and water can be easily separated by evaporation or eventually by the salt settling to the bottom, it is very difficult to separate either the salt or the water into their elemental components.

Compounds are chemically blended of 2 or more elements and cannot be seperated physically as are checmically bonded.

Mixture is mix of 2 or more elements that are NOT bonded chemically and CAN be seperated physically.

Good example if Iron and Sulfer. if you have iron and sulfer and just grind and mix you have a mixture...if you then melt and mix you can chemically combine to make iron sulfide which is a solid

a mixture is composed of two or more substances mingled together but not chemically combined. While compounds are substances that are chemically combined.

with a mixture u can seperate it using methods of physical seperation to get your original substances (e.g. filtration, distillation, sublimation, chromatography, magnetisation e.t.c.).\
With a compound, a new chemical has been formed and cannot be seperated into its constitiuents using physical seperation methods.
