I think the main thing the author adds to the lecture is the debate over emotions and Christians. I never really thought this topic would cause a debate. I think that we can use the lessons in the bible to control our emotions, but regardless of if you’re a sinner or a saint those emotions are there. You can repress them and not act on them, but they are there. To me the key is being in charge of your emotions. As far as anger goes I have personally come along way. I don’t know if it is a part of growing older and wiser, but I find myself asking questions before I get angry. If I think someone is being rude, I may confront them in a respectful way to understand where they are coming from, and usually you find they didn’t mean to come across that way. My biggest issue is that I truly try to be respectful to everyone around me, it is how I was raised, so if someone is not acting like I think is the right way I look at them as arrogant. For instance if I am at a ballgame I am not going to stand up if someone is behind me and block there view. To me that is common sense. Well go to a game and see how many times someone will stand up in front of you. In the past I would be rude, but I have learned with age that it likely that they aren’t meaning to be rude, they are just really not conscious of their surroundings. Now as far as road rage, I got a lot of growing up to do…

You seem to attribute your values and perceptions of appropriate behavior to your upbringing, yet you also say that it is common sense. That doesn't add up. Attributing appropriate behavior to upbringing and common sense assumes that everyone was raised the same. For example, you say the person that stands up at a ballgame simply isn't aware of his surroundings (I gues you mean he isn't aware he is blocking someone else's view). Maybe he is aware that he's blocking someone's view, but feels that an exciting play calls for everyone to stand up.

I am got growing up to do on the road rage thing myself.
As far as Christians and emotions, my thoughts on anger are similar to yours, except I always think of Jesus in the temple when he became angry, The bible says be angry and sin not. Not to me with the ex. of Jesus I think if it is something valid and is wrong we should show our anger and state our case and go on. Instead of not responding and stewing, because of a grieveous wrong. Other than that if we are rude are not considerate of others we will reap it, our spirits will become grieved, simple because we have Jesus in our heart and the wonderful Holy Bible our instruction book, the book that leads even the people who were not raised to respect other a new contructive way.

You mentioned commom sense. To me there is a simple answer to a question that is asked many times in everybody's journey through life. If you think about it the only thing that really makes the difference in these kinds of situations is COMMON SENSE, some have it and some will never get it.

non secular conviction is the properly social gathering of lack of severe wondering. There are some human beings, somewhat sensible in different regards, who've depending their ideas to settle for what I perceive as fantasy, wishful wondering, and outright fantasy. not inevitably restricted to Western non secular concept both. Any gadget of conception that wraps round one's ideas limits severe wondering.

you have not yet experience a life in which emotions have a different role. you know nothing else. Try a lifetime of meditation and yoga. See how your feelings change as a part of your life.
it is not as static as you think.
