I am staying in Chicago for a week at a conference and would love to find some really good second-hand book shops - particularly those that you can really browse in and find great stuff that isn't over-priced. If anyone could also provide addresses or location to the trains (El) that would be very helpful, thank you.

My favorite is Myopic Books, at 1564 N. Milwaukee Avenue - it's right next to the Damen stop on the Blue Line.

Sad to say that most of them are gone, being forced out by the big chain book stored. Granted used book stores are selling something different but not too many people seem to be interested in the. There's one on North Clark Street about three blocks north of Diversey (near a Buca de Beppo restaurant). sorry I can't be more precise but I don't remember the name of the cross street.

Powell Used Books on Lincoln Ave. just north of Diversey a half block. It's just a short walk from the Diversey Brown Line stop.

There is o ne in Palatine, Illinois.
It's along Rand Rd, I think, and it's in a plaza next to a Walmart.
