Okay....i have seen to many stereotypes about preps here.
What is a prep?

prep would be someone who can come off as high maintenance. prep has a more term though when it comes to guys and gals. a guy can be called prep when he is always wearing nice shirts and nice jeans of a nice pair of khaki along with brown leather shoes or black. they are never seen wearing pj's or scrubs. usually they will wear clothes like abercrombie, amiercan eagle, mens express, and others just like that...i hope i am right because i use to be prep before i became lazy

Honestly, I'm not in high school and now looking back on it all those damn stereotypes were just a line of **** to set students apart and cause problems.
when I was in school a few years ago, a prep was a really smart snobby girl who was mostly from a rich family.
Preppy back then was kids poppin' their colars and wearing fitted jeans, and for girls the same but flaired pants....and always had the hair and make up perfect....
I think more people called them preps just becuse it sounded bad...
either way...stereotyping is wrong and pathetic.
totally lame.

A "prep" is short for "preppie". Preppie is an 80s term used to describe the conservative style of dress. This usually consisted of argyle sweaters, hush puppy shoes, slim neck ties, standing the collar up on polo shirts, etc. Most 1980s movies include at least one charator who is a preppie.
Preppies are also typically considered "white bred" or "upper class" teenagers who drive "daddy's car" and who are privalidged.
Preppies typically look down on "rockers" and "punks" as lower class people.
If yo are familier with 1960s teenage sterotypes, Preppie is the equivalent of a "soch" (short for "socialite")

for me prep means homework or preparation for the next day's school work. (i went to a boarding school mind)

people who wear a lot of shirts w/ collars and khaki pants and flip flops. they look as though they shop at abercrombie and fitch all the time.
