My 3 month old has round white spots on the insides of her cheek (nothing on her tongue or throat that I can see). I can't tell if it's formula or Thrush. When I try to wipe it off (which is not easy with a newborn, as you can imagine), it seems to be wiping off quite easily. Her gums and the insides of her cheeks look slightly redder than normal. Could this be thrush? Or just formula residue?
P.S. Please don't tell me to contact a doctor. I have called and I am waiting for a call back. I'm looking for info from experienced parents who have dealt with Thrush before. Thanks.

If your baby has white spots that look like milk curd on the insides of the cheeks or on the tongue, this may be thrush. These spots often bleed if you try to scrape them off. Thrush can make your baby’s mouth sore. It can sometimes causing feeding problems.
The same yeast infection can cause persistent diaper rash. Some babies have the infection both in their mouth and on their bottom. Thrush also can spread to your breasts if your baby is breastfed.
Call your baby's doctor if you think your baby has thrush. Although mild cases often clear up on their own, many babies need treatment with antifungal medications. These medications are usually applied to the infected areas with a dropper or with your finger after a feeding. A baby with a yeast infection in the diaper area can be treated with an antifungal ointment following diaper changes.
If your baby develops thrush and you are breastfeeding, you may want to use the same antifungal ointment to help prevent passing the infection back and forth between your breast and your baby’s mouth. You can continue breastfeeding during treatment.

Thrush looks like chapped lipps
you know how dries skin looks when its wet and pruny
and its easily removed kinda like plaque.
My son had it, and when i first noticed it the doctor said she wasn't sure, but i WAS so a few days later i went back and saw another doctor, and it was confirmed, ( which i was breast feeding and have 2 other children ) ( and i found it painful when i nursed )
Some signs are , tired ness and crying when they feed, and personally i didn't notice anything diffrent or out of the ordinary except the white patches, which were very minimal
I gave him oral nystatin
IMPORTANT TO KNOW:
You have to follow the directions exactly or it will come back
and you need to throw away the pacifiers ECT.
I sterilized, but i have no idea if his re occurance was from missing a couple of doses or nipples, or MY nipples
So you need to be vigilant.
And VERY important, DO NOT DOUBLE DIP THE DROPPER,
for one thing your contaminating the medicine, and then reinfecting your baby,
this goes for cough syrup, and tylenol ect.
for the other if your contaminating and you have a reoccurence then you'll need to replace the medicine
ok and the last thing is Barfing, and pOOPing
it smells funny . Just FYI
And he also had a really bad diaper rash, they gave me cream for that too.
Oh and when i delivered they gave me antibiotics because i testes positive for vaginal strep, I think this was the reason he go it, he wasn't given any meds, and he was only a few weeks old.
Also when i gave birth he was in meconium? when the feces are in the amniotic fluids. just curious to see if this was so for other parents.

The nurse told me that if it wipes off its not thrush. If it wipes off its just milk deposits. My baby had thrush at 1 month and I had no idea i just thought it was milk on her tongue but the nurse couldnt wipe it off so she put her on nystatin and then 2 wks later when I still saw white on her tongue I took her back to the doctor assuming that she still had the thrush and this time the doctor took a look and said nope thats just milk. I never saw anything on my babies gums when she had the thrush so I dont know about your baby. My baby got the thrush shortly after I was put on antibiotics from a possible infection from the 3rd degree perineal tear.

If it is thrush it will start to disperse to the cheeks and the tounge and even down there throat, it is not easy to wipe away and will cause redness, formula is not so white looking and when you wipe it away it will be easy . It is best just to have the doctor look at it, if it is there are two medications that work great and will clear it up in a day or two.

when my kids had thrush they always had white stuff on their tongues, as well as their cheeks and if you use apple juice to see if it will come off after anything else, dont work, then its prob thrush, thrush is painful for a baby. mine got worse and it hurt her bad, it sounds like it might be thrush hun

My daughter had thrush, and based on the symptoms you have described it sounds like your daughter does also. Has she recently been on a antibiotic? If so, this may have caused it...It was in my case. My daughter developed an ear infection and was given an antibiotic. After being off the meds, she developed thrush. Wait on the phone call.

It's caused by not cleaning the baby bottles or nipples. You're sposed to boil them and wash them in hot water. None of my kids had it. If you're breastfeeding, you can pass it back in worth. I would air boobs out and keep them clean after each use. It's thrush is white, it's a yeast infection in the mouth

of it scrapes off easily, its probaly just formula. Thrush formed on the inside of my dooughters cheeks when she was about a month old. As long as you take care of it quickly, and not let it spread down his or her throat, its harmless.

It looks like what you described. Kinda like cottage cheese? with my daughter when I wiped it away it always came back. It wasn't on her tongue at first just her cheeks and then her lips and then her tongue. It clears really quickly with meds though. Use lemon juice to wipe it off and then once you get the meds make sure you boil her nipples after each feeding to keep from reinfecting her.
