Good question.

I think some of is true belief in their motives, I think some of it is ideology, some of it laziness and some of it not having much to choose from in the way of a real, clear cut choice. I'm all about changing the way we conduct our political business but don't see anything changing anytime soon. Sadly....

Unfortunately, too many voters are very uninformed.

Too many people treat the process of electing polititions as an emotional choice. "Who is the nicest looking?"; "Who is the tallest?".

Look at how politions campaign. It is a reflection of too many of us who respond to it.

Politicians do not give detailed speeches about positions, they talk in calming voices about issues with the depth of "motherhood and apple pie".

My understanding is that France has a rule that you can not publish "horse race a.k.a. polling data " statistics during political campaigns. That is one of the best rules in the world. Imagine if all the TV stations in America did not spend all the time talking about polling data and instead spent more time discussing the candiate's positions. Because today 80% of the TV time dedicated to elections is dedicated to "who has what percentage of the vote, if the election were held that day".

The elecorate would be far more informed if polling data could not be discussed in public. That would leave more time for issues.

I would like to see that French law in the US.

Imagine if newspapers published all the controversial votes of all the members of the legislaters two weeks before the election so everyone could see what each elected official did during their last term in office. That would be unbelievably informative, but it will never happen.

Yes, we are.

Most people have no concept of what these people have been doing to this nation for the last hundred years. They replaced our gold-backed (inflation proof) dollar with paper debt notes (which earn interest for the Federal Reserve), they put us under the United Nations, thereby eroding our national sovereignty.

They have created a national debt in the hundreds of billions of dollars. They continue to chip away at our Bill of Rights (the Democrats traditionally attack the First and Second Amendments, the Republicans have been working to destroy the Fourth and Fifth). The question is, how does the typical American decide who to vote for?

Read your Constitution!

To have the choice to do somthing, rather than having things thrust upon you, is a fundamental component of freedom. It is inherent in voting. It is inherent is a woman's right to choose too, but that is a different question.

James Carvelle said on Sunday that a monument to the Candate should be erected in Washington, and he may not be wrong. Here we are, expecting superhuman perfection in our politicans, and what do we get? Human beings with all of their flaws.

We have a double standard when it comes to politicians. We probably all have "questionable" friends who do amusing but "questionable" things. But when a politician exposes a human weakness, we condemn them. It takes a lot of guts to be a politician; to have your personal life open to intense public exposure.

At the same time, we deserve honesty and ability from those offering to serve.

Do you think we should throw out the constitution and expel every politician? How could this country run its self without politicians? I do not think that because of a few bad politicians we need to let this country turn to anarchy.

They're the only 1's on the ballot. It's a mistake to vote for anyone who wants the job.

what do you mean? poliicains are the ones who you vote for, thats why its called politics, we can't just vote for some random joe. it would be nice if we could, but we can't. lets see some politicians say one honest word out of their mouths, then maybe we'd be more inclined to want them leading this nation.

Because we are a Representative Republic, not a Democracy! Those who are truly stupid are those who don't vote!
