Well there are no gurantees as you've learned except abstinance. But, if you never want kids anymore you can get your tubes tied or your husband could get a vasectomy. If you want more kids but just not right now you could try the shot (two versions every 13 weeks and once a month), pill (many different versions of hormones and levels), cervical cap, IUD, condoms, etc. I would speak with your doctor about your concerns about an accidental pregnancy and see what alternatives are available and fit you and your husband's lifestyle.

I got an IUD put in. its good for 5-10 years and you never have to worry about pills or shots or patches. Mine is the 5 year one. Its a small T shaped device that is placed into the opening of your uterus. It releces a small amount of hormone continuasly. Plus with the 5 year IUD you might not have to worry about having your peirod for those years. And once it is in you dont feal a thing! It was expencive, luckly my insurance paid for mine, most of the time they would be happyer to pay for a IUD instead of multipule hospital bills from the maturnity ward.

I would suggest an IUD. You do not have to worry about them. They work for 5 to 10 years. No pill to remember. To shot to mess you up like the Depo. No condoms. Etc.

If you want something as effective as the pill but don't want to worry about forgetting to take it, you should check out an IUD (Intrauterine device). You should be able to get it from your Gyno or Planned Parenthood.

Withdrawal method or the female condoms (the film stuff). The female condoms worked well for my wife and I but they can be expensive if you're using them a lot.
