The Democrats could careless what he has accomplished. Anyone who has represented this country in a honorable way will be gone. The Dem's don't want anyone to over shadow their agenda, even if by appointing him would further US foreign affairs and agenda.. Most Democrats don't even have a clue what Bolton has accomplished . Which really shows how well they follow US politics and agendas. For those who don't know here are a FEW of Bolton's accomplishments...
1. helped to create a new partnership with Interpol to strengthen sanctions against al-Qaida.
2. led the adoption of sanctions by the Security Council against individuals contributing to the genocide in Darfur.
3. helped provided the peacekeeping mission in the Congo, MONUC, with resources and temporary police and troop increases to support Congo's first democratic elections in 40 years.
4. helped negotiate a formal Security Council statement calling on Iran to suspend all uranium enrichment activities and to request follow up reports from the IAEA on Iranian compliance.
5. in partnership with the Japanese, led Security Council efforts to take a firm and clear stand against North Korean missile launches with the adoption of resolution 1695. This resolution is the strongest statement of condemnation the Security Council has made against North Korea in over 10 years and received unanimous support, even from China and Russia.
What is so amazing is , his list of accomplishments could fill this page plus some.....

Dude, He couldn't even get confirmed by THE REPUBLICANS either!
HE LIED TO THE SENATE CONFIRMATION COMMITTEE!
That's why Bush had to sneak him in the back door. Everyone knows he was bad, republicans and democrats.
But as a Democrat, I would say a good choice for UN ambassador Bush could make would be....HIS FATHER! I truly believe Bush Sr. would be the best republican for the job (since it's a given that a Democrat won't be nominated). After all, not only is he an ex-president but he used to be an Ambassador to China as well.
By the way, Why do you say he was the best thing that happened to the UN? Please back that statement up.

Bolton was opposed by both Republicans and Democrats. For any R to oppose one of Bush's appointments tells you all you need to know about how bad he was. The man publicly stated that he thought the UN was a pointless institution, not a good choice for our representative. Bolton in the UN was like assigning a KKK member as the ambassador to Israel.

Well, given that George Bush always has had his own agenda for a long time, never mind what anyone else wants, it's high time that this step was taken. Thank you Democrats.

You can't spell his name.
I knew someone who worked with him. He was and is a horse's behind.
You can't have someone working as ambassador who hates the country or organization s/he is assigned to.
End of essay.
