Driving on the right was the way that they did things in some european countries. Because there were not as many cars being manufactured, there was really no demand to convert them over back then.

because England has right hand drive back then and still now. but most of Europe has left hand drive. it is a little confusing come to think of it.

Because everything is backwards in Europe. They even drive on the opposite side of the road than we do.
