If it is a simple break and is actually broken, you may be in a cast for up to 6 weeks. However, It may not be broken. You have given no details, so it is hard to advise you. You don't have to go to the hospital, just call your doctor and make an appointment. If you are on your computer now, after the injury, it can't be that bad. Don't do any movement or action that causes pain. Take an anti-inflamitory like Ibuprophen (follow the instructions on the bottle), that will help to reduce any swelling that may be present.

A friend of mine broke his arm last year, and the doc said 6 weeks. But that was before he ran into trouble with brittle bones.

Depends on where you broke it. I broke my arm above my elbow and didn't get a cast at all, because I had to move my elbow everday so that it didn't calcify.

I bet it will take about 9 weeks to fully heal.

Good luck!

Approximately 6-8 weeks. It also depends on if you have also torn muscle too. The muscle will also need a chance to heal.
