I'll shoot the question right back at you...why do guys have to be so afraid of showing their feelings and wanting committment. I can't really speak for today's girls, as I am older and long married, but it is probably becuase girls are more socially sophisticated than boys in the teen years. We are by nature more subtle. Also, it has been drummed into our little heads by "society" (read patriarchol males here) that is it "wrong" to be "outgoing" in our opinions, likes, etc.

I walked up to a man in a bar once, grabbed him and kissed him. Then I said, "I just wanted to let you know I think you're hot," turned around, and walked off. Next thing I know, he's buying me drinks left and right. That was over a year ago. We tried dating, but it was easier to be friends.
How's that for straightforward? I have no problem telling or showing a guy that I like him.

Well if a woman liked you,you' d know by the chemistry that was going on between you.If you meet someone and to get a reaction its like pulling teeth, then move on.

From your question, I'm guessing that you're still in HS. Possibly Jr. High. The answer isn't too hard, though. Some girls like to play 'coy' and send out mixed messages. And some girls like to be straightforward.
