Thhis is a GREAT website for all kinds of stuffed animals:

www.allplush.com

In particular, search on "Carlsbad Dog" for an extra soft puppy. Or do a seacrh on "Plumpee", there's a whole line of plumpee animals. We have the Plumpee Chick, who is incredibly soft & cute.

Merry Christmas!

I have never heard of fur (soft hair) being used to stuff upholstery. It would not be comfortable, since it crushes when sat on, and would do little to disguise the hard edges of the wooden carcass of the furniture. Horse-hair (from mane and tail of slaughtered horses), which is tough and (when curled) elastic, was common. While not as effective nor as comfortable as modern fillings it worked pretty well in things like sofas, armchairs and mattresses. Duck down and goose feathers were also used to fill not only quilts, but also over-mattresses which lay on top of a horse-hair under-mattress. In some old beds this might even still be the case: over 50 years ago when I went up to a Cambridge college the inventory of my room included a bed with horse-hair mattress and 'goose-feather bed' - which turned out to be an over-mattress and quilt set, beautifully warm in winter but intolerably sweaty in hot weather. A few might still survive. Hope this helps.

go to a hallmark store better yet a story for baby stuff, babay stuff is always the softest, you could also check the baby sections at wal-mart and stuff like that.
