Those that are against stem cell research are generally against it because it involves the extraction of human brain stem cells from perfectly healthy embryos and fetuses. It just adds more fuel to the firestorm we know of as abortion. It is both unethical and immoral... not to mention pure EVIL. Liberals embrace stem cell research because it is self serving (as all liberals are) but having total disregard for the sanctity of life (as all liberals do).

There are however a few new processes of stem cell research at it's infancy stages (pardon the pun) that does not involve the extraction of stem cells from embryos and fetuses. If accepted by the respective communities, it will greatly progress the research without any ethical issues involved.

May God have mercy upon our nation.

It is not stem cell research that people oppose ,it is embryomic stem cell research that many find imorale. It is creating embryos for the sole purpose of destroying them in the name of research, that many think is akin to playing god. Further more, though some scientist hope that this research will result in benificial treatments for a variety of diseases and injurys only adult stem cell research has yielded any such treatments so far. Some also argue that the research being done on umbilical cord cells is more promising then embryonic stem cells., and no embryos are destroyed. So they argue that this is the research where we should concentrate our effort and money.

I had a lot of questions about stem cell research, and I found this book regarding it. I thought it was very objective, and written so that anyone could understand what was being discussed.

After reading it, I believe that those who oppose stem cell research do so for mostly religious reasons. There is no reason to not pursue it.

Those who oppose it will also be the first ones in line if/when stem cell research brings about a cure for any of a number of diseases.

People aren't against stem cell research, they are mostly against Federal funding of fetal stem cell research. There are no laws against this research, there just isn't federal funding of said research.

Some people feel that a stem cell is a potential human being, and therefore it is wrong to use it for research.
