Why do we hold actors in such high regard?

Personally, I think most people wish they could have their money and fame but don't necessarily respect them (or hold them in high regard). At least I don't. Also, there is a good number of people in the world who have very empty lives and transplant all of their hopes and dreams onto someone they don't even know. It's kind of sad.

Very good question, I think we are blinded by riches and fame, Possibly also out of envy, Not all of them deserve to be held in high regard and sometimes fall by the wayside'

I only hold in high regard those actors who do their jobs well. Much like any other profession...doctors, dentists.,scientists..whatever.
It's only a job that I pay them to do for me.

Because we as society forget that actors are human just like we are. Everybody makes mistakes.

Because they're rich and famous or either very talented. Whether they are talented can be disputed of course but the first two are a definite.

i thought the media was more interested in building them up then watching them fall, timing it to coincide with products (movies, tv, etc) that they are pushing.
