I've always wondered who exactly do they talk to and for what reason. The camera almost always shows at least once the QB talking on the phone, especially after a TD.
So who are they talking to and why?

Usually, the offensive coordinator sits in a booth at the top of the stadium and has a view of how each play is developing, what the cornerbacks are doing on a given play, how the linebackers are biting on run plays, etc. that give insight in which plays to call when.

Joey isn't as bad as people make him out to be...but by the same token he will never be a great NFL Quarterback. The kid just purely lacks the leadership and physically tools it takes to become on of the premier passers in the NFL. His biggest problem before was alot like Rex Grossman's problems. He was uncomfortable in the pocket and would force too many throws and make simple mistakes that a NFL Quarterback shouldn't make. But playing with the Dolphins last year he improved alot. He got more comfortable in the pocket, he didn't force as many throws, and he did the little things right. I think he is a good back-up but isn't a long term answer for the Falcons. If I'm Atlanta I kind of hope that the season is tanked. Then you can step up and take Brian Brohm who is familiar with Petino's system and you will have a franchise quarterback who in the long run would probably be better than Michael Vick. Harrington won't be the downfall of this team...the downfall of this team is no receivers outside of Joe Horn and Algae Crumpler. And a defense that has been ravaged by free agency and injury.

Usually the offensive coordinator is up in the press box during the game so most of the time he is talking to that coach and getting keys and or play suggestions based on the OC's perspective.

to their offensive coordinator. they are located up in the sky booths and look down on the game. they give the quarterback some insight from a different perspective and let them know whats working and whats not, not to mention calling plays if the head coach does not do this.

The quarterback is talking to the offense coordinator to see if any adjustment are needed or if the defense is changing things up.

It's usually the offensive coordinator up in the booth. They have a bird's eye view of what's going on on the field, and can give them advice on defensive formations, how to get their head out of their ***, that sort of thing.

you got to understand how coaching works in pro...yes there is the head coach and then there is the off. cordinator and def. cordinator who are up stairs watching the game...the QB is probally talking to the off cordinator...getting advice and telling him what is going on on the feild...

well sometimes it's the hooker down the street but most of the time it's the cordinater upstairs
