No it does not mean you are homosexual. It isn't meant to be proprietary, like you belong to a man, but means simply you are a good example of what other men perceive what a good man should be. Straight or not.

If I say that it doesn't mean I am gay, it means that if I had my choice on a Saturday afternoon, I would rather be watching a football game and drinking a beer rather than go to the mall for a new outfit I don't need.

It means that you are an Alpha male. Like for instance Tony Soprano. He's a mans man. He has a family, but he likes to party, screw hott chicks, knock heads around, and make money. All the things a guy should like to do.

I am a 22 year old young man, and even though it may seem that people my age wouldn't know what this means, I think I do. First, I must say that if you consider yourself masculine, A guy who calls you a man's man is complimenting you!
It's a bit of an old-fashioned term but here's my definition:
My understanding is that a "man's man" is a guy who acknowledges and acts upon fraternal instincts between himself and another man. What I mean by "fraternal instincts" is brotherly stuff, like patting each other on the back, scoping out girls for your friend, going fishing or hunting together, or buying him a beer, for example. It doesn't really have a lot to do with sharing feelings, as much as it does with TIME YOU SPEND TOGETHER. Seems like guys make friends with friends who understand them, sure, but moreover, they like to spend time with each other. A guy who understands the term "brotherhood" and builds relationships with other guys based on the values of masculinity they have in common.
Examples of who I think is a "man's man":
-Someone who knows how to fix stuff and will offer help when I need it.
-A guy who knows when to invite me out for a beer when my girlfriend is just too much to handle.
-A guy who looks out for me and my career - if he hears about a job, he puts in a good word for me.
-Someone who will smoke a cigar and drink some beers with me.
-A guy who offers to pick up the tab every once in a while, just for the sake of being friends.
-Someone who puts value in the same things I do, like success in my job or respect for my girlfriend.
I would attribute being a "man's man" to masculinity, not homosexuality. Being a "man's man" does not mean you are gay. It means you are masculine and considerate of other guys' needs for friendship and brotherhood, and that you put value in values that masculine men generally share in common.

It means most their interests are guy stuff that few girls like ( hunting, fishing, football . . . stuff that the guys were doing at Helms Deep, Lord of the Rings).
They are not gay, they just like the mountain man kind of things to do as opposed to good restaurants, live theatre or the symphony.

No. It means a man that other men look up to - a roll model - a good guy. He is what a man would call a REAL man.

A man's man is a guy's guy.
It means a guy that is easy to hang out with other guys, that other guys get along with and admire and want to be like.
A guy that is handy, can fix things, watches sports, drinks beer, etc.

It used to mean you were a macho kind of guy. Who knows what it means these days. John Wayne was a man's man.
