Is it ok if you keep at 99 degrees... considering your normal body temp is 98.6??? Or is it still to dangerous... my back and body are killing me... just wondering b/c it would really help??? But obviously if its not a good idea I wont... but I dont go to doctor until the 19th, of course I will ask him... but just wondering until then... (although before I get the rude comments, please know that I wouldnt go in until then w/o his approval!!!!)

I would stay away from Hot tubs during pregnancy even if it is cooler, the are risks of infection to. Why not go to a chiropractor or massage.

Hot tubs are NOT safe when your pregnant. My Dr. even told me to avoid using a heating pad for more than 10 - 15 minutes on my back or torso.
Just because your internal temp is about 98.6 doesn't mean that a 99 degree hot tub is safe! If you sit in a room that's 70 degrees, you don't die of hypothermia because your metabolism causes your body to remain at a higher temp. If you're in 99 degree water your body temp will be higher than 99 degrees due to the same facts -- unless your dead.

I saw a show this morning, and the doctor they were interviewing said it was ok as long as you didnt stay in there for more than 10 minutes. Just so that you body temp doesnt get to high, I wish I had a hot tub I could go in.... My babck is killing me!! Hope this helped. Good Luck and Congrats.

I am guessing you are pregnant? I think the hot tub all together is a no. When I was pregnant me and my hubby went on vacation and there was a hot tub and I told my hubby I couldn't go in and he didn't believe me. We asked the doctor at the next app and I was right. I hot water and bubbling effect can cause labor to start.
I am 28 weeks right now and I notice sometimes if my bath water is to hot, Braxton Hicks contractions will start up.
Ask your doctor and see what he says, maybe he will have alternate solutions for your back pain also.

It's not a good idea unless you can control the temperature and set it at no more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Soaking in hot water or sitting in a hot, steamy room can make you overheat, which raises your heart rate and reduces blood flow to your uterus, potentially putting your baby under stress or interfering with normal development. And because pregnant women have a hard time cooling down, you're more likely to pass out if you get overheated in a hot tub or sauna -- an especially dangerous proposition in either setting.

I was looking in my pregnancy book and it says occasional use of the hot tub are ok if you only use for less than 10 minutes and only after your first trimester. If the mothers temperature core raises to high it can cause a miscarriage. If also says to remember to drink plenty of water to keep from getting dehydrated. Hope this helps you.
I would either call your doctor and leave him a message and ask or wait until your appointment and find out.

My doctor told me not to take a hot bath 100 degrees or more! I'm not sure if it helps any but that's all I was told. They say it's because our bodies over heat too easily when we are pregnat causing harm to us as well as our unborn babies! GOOD LUCK..but you could also call your docs office before then and ask your nurse! CONGRATS

Please don't boil your baby!!!!!
Jk...
same rule of thumbs for hot tubs and baths....should not be HOT. Warm is ok. You just don't want to get over heated. I take warm baths when I'm feeling rotten or having those pg aches and pains. Really helps when the belly pressure becomes too much because my belly seems to float.

As long as it is comfortably warm and not boiling hot, it should be fine.
The danger with hot baths etc during pregnancy is that it can limit blood flow and make you feel dizzy and pass out.
If you feel uncomfortable, get out.
But if it will help with your discomfort, give it a go :)
