Today someone told me that in order to play the wii you have to have it hooked up to the internet. I am not able to do that so, is this true or just someone trying to scare me?

You only need it to do online multiyplayer games. With out Onlin capabilities, it's like a suped up gamecube.
No, you do not need it to play normally.

hes just trying to scare you. you can play the wii without the internet.

No you dont need internet to play unless you want to play multipalyer on the internet. But if you do have internet access you can download demos and stuff like dat
