It is not a crime for the consumer to remove the tags after they have purchased the product.
Tags are there to inform the buyer what the mattress is made of.
Once you own it you can do what you want with it.

It is only a crime to rip off the tag on a matress before it is sold.

It's only a crime for the seller. If you are the owner, feel free to rip/cut it off. (I'm not sure then that you could re-sell or give away the mattress after that, my knowledge doesn't extend that far.)

The law and the tagging was in response to the practices of many unsanitary/shoddy mattress manufacturers and sellers of the past.

It's not a crime. You simply can't remove the tags until it is sold and delivered. Once you have the mattress in your home, feel free to remove the tags.

A lot of things have this tag. Rugs, stuff animals, pillows....

It's not if you read the label it reads if you are not the consumer. If you bought the mattress it is yours to do what you want with. The tag reads no one but the consumer.

i dunno i always wondered that also lol wtf is the differnce if its on or off they just have nothing better to do then waste time making things like that illegal when theres wars out there and people getting killed on our streets cops killing people and so on...
