Its seems today Christmas season in U.S. is too materialistic to the point most people will be glad it is over. Alot of people get burned out and disgusted with the long lines in the stores. Many will see no joy from this. Why not try to go back to the older traditions? Why not spend more time with family or friends? Try Christmas caroling, are making candys or foods for friends or family. Making things or maybe even giving ones time is more valuable than a store bought gift. Then maybe after Christmas day you can look back and be more refreshed and not burned out and stressed. Teach your children a different traditon than that of alot of toys that typically are not played with 5 days after Christmas.

My kids know that Christmas is Jesus Birthday. So what we do is help others in honor of his birthday, donate toys, clothes, food. My kids are not materialistic, shocker i know. they are great. We don't give our family presents, they understand. It should not be a holiday for giving presents. People have lost the reason of why we truly celebrate Christmas. Jesus is the reason for the season.
MERRY CHRISTMAS

You are right, but it depends on the person. I personally love Christmas, decorating my yard for my enjoyment and the neighbourhood children. Homemade baking with the kids. And the most important, never go into debt. Spend within your means.Christmas is what people make it. I wish more people wouldn't be so materialistic and truly enjoy what Christmas is really about.

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

spending time with my family is *way* more fun than having ppl buy stuff for me.

oops wait nevermind. sometimes i am so sarcastic i get disoriented and forget what i'm trying to say. the truth is, does anyone really enjoy family-wide-reunion time? can we honeslty say that it's not "stressful"? psh. give me a dozen generic cashmere scarves any day. happy holidays, everyone!
