"The far-left smear machine is already cranked up over ‘Culture Warrior.' You basically have to begin with the definition of the culture war. And it's between traditionalists who believe the country is noble — America is a noble nation, we can make mistakes, but basically at the heart of our system is a nobility that makes the world a better place – and secular progressives, who believe America is a deeply flawed nation that needs a fundamental overhaul."

Yes I do, but you have to realize when he says "secular progressives", he means the extreme far left, not liberals or democrats in general.

I agree that there is a culture war, and that the people O'Reilly labels 'secular progressives' are on the opposite side of the fence of people like himself.

However, I dispute that O'Reilly is representative of either American nobility or traditional values. He may like to think so, but nothing I have ever seen or heard from the man indicates he is a person of integrity. The people he represents are those who don't mind twisting or obscuring the truth, vilifying people who disagree with them, and supressing and ignoring information that does not support their agenda.

If he actually is representative of what now passes for American traditional values, boy, are we in trouble. Guess that would make him right about the deep flaws, as well.

Orielly thinks in black and white terms. His radio and TV shows as well as his writings reflect that. What the hell does secular progressive mean anyway? This is a secular nation, not a theocracy. If we weren't progressive we would still be commuting on horseback. He also equates SP with being unpatriotic, a fact that is missing from your definition. The people on the right (and make no mistake, Billy is on the right) continually give Bush a pass whenever tactics used in this war on terror start to infringe on civil liberties. Those are the very traditions that he says make us a noble country. His definitions are flawed because they are too black and white. The truth is somewhere in between. However that wouldn't be as easy to spin on his so called "no spin zone".

Yes. They seem to hate O'Reilly almost as much as they hate Bush.

He has completely oversimplified everything in this quote. He has also demonized and implicated anyone who doesn't agree with him. This is pretty typical from O'Reilly. I wonder how many outright lies are in his book?
