Does the teacher need to improve her communication skills or is it the autistic child whose communication skills
need to be improved?
Here is one idea:
"Creating an effective teaching environment for children with autism is important. Improving teacher/child communication is one way to create such an environment."
If this is the paragraph you would use, you would then want to describe ways to improve the communication.
Hope this helps.

This sentence itself is fine however, you could introduce a preceeding sentence regarding the problems that Autistic children have with communication and then after your sentence include a third describing how the communications skills of autistic children could be improved and provide examples.
