I hate my last name. I like to sign my last name with a different last name consistantly. I even prefer to be called that name and answer to it.I don't have the money to change it legally right now. Also, I am about to move to another state and don't want to wait the waiting period to change it?

Not legally. And I hope you're not using it in your employment, it would mess up your social security. If the names didn't match, you wouldn't get credit for any social security taxes you paid in.

Not legally. It is fraud, but you can legally change your name without a lawyer. I did it. All it costs are the filing fees, about $25.00. Go to the courthouse and ask to see a copy of a name change order. Write down the things on it, then go somewhere and either type it or have someone else type it for you. Write your real name, what you want to change it to, why you want to change it,dates, birth, etc. Pay your fee, File it,,,,,Then a judge will decide if he approves it which he does if you have a good reason. Within 6 weeks you will have your order and your name is changed, period, legally. It is simple and so don't waste money and time on a lawyer.
