It has mild to moderately explosive eruptions which are sometimes accompanied by lava flows. From the pictures I've seen it looks like a composit cone not a shield volcano which would indicate granitic magma caused by the subduction seafloor under the island chain of Papua New Guinnea. It most likely has a decent amount of basaltic magma as well since lava flows are usually basalt.
