If your monitor has a 'menu' button on the front of it, press this and adjust the geometry of the screen.
i.e. the horizontal width, vertical hight.

most monitors have controls on the front which allow you to change the geometry of the image for the best fit.

Some monitors (usually LCD ones) will have an Auto adjust mode, but most monitors you will have to adjust manually look out for the horizontal adjust and the vertical adjust

this also happens if you ever choose to change your screen resolutions from 640x480 to 800x600 or 1024x768 certain games or applications can automatically change your resolution for best performance (this often means that you may have to adjust your monitor)

However the good news is that once done your monitor will remember your settings and should switch to the appropriate setting when the resolution changes
