Your ultimate goal is to isolate the n by itself.

Your first step is to bring over the -3 to the right hand side. Keep in mind that whenever you bring a number over to the other side, it becomes its positive version

4n = 25 + 3
4n = 28

Now, you have to divide both sides by 4, in order to leave the n by itself.

4n/4 = 28/4
n = 7

Use the order of operations backwards, starting with addition and subtraction. Add 3 to both sides.

4n - 3 + 3 = 25 + 3

4n = 28

Then divide both sides by 4.

(4n)/4 = 28/4

n = 7

4n - 3 = 25 add 3 to each side
4n+3-3=25+3 combine like terms
4n=28 divide both sides by 4
n=28/4=7

check
4*7-3=25
28-3=25
25=25

4n - 3 = 25
first, add 3 to both sides of the equation
& you are left with:
4n = 28
then divide both sides of the equation by 4
& you are left with:
n = 7

4n - 3 = 25 (Add 3 to both sides)
4n = 28 (Divide both sides by 4)
n = 7

Check:
4(7) - 3 = 25
28 - 3 = 25
25 = 25
