I don't think you need a zip code. Here is an example fo their tourist board. No zip code, just mention the island of Tortola

Here is a list of the new BVI postal codes that are now in effect since November 1st. You have to find out in which part of Tortola your friend lives.
Tortola Central: VG1110
Tortola East: VG1120
Tortola West: VG1130
Anegada: VG1140
Virgin Gorda: VG1150
Jost Van Dyke: VG1160
