don't worry too much, it can take a good couple of years for your body to fall into a reular pattern. if you are concerned though do see your dr, your over 16 so your mum doesn't have to know. things like stress and being underweight/not eating well can affect periods too.

Many young women worry about this issue. A lot of girls are not regular their first 2 years, but eventually your body should get on a "semi-regular" schedule. If you go see a doctor about it, they will probably put you on birth control (or another hormone pill) to regulate your period. You don't need to do this, it's just an option. Having irregular periods is not serious at all at your age, it's very common. (Especially if you're involved in any athletics!)

Hi >
I'm a bloke, and therefore know nothing about this - except :
When my partner in life has period pains, she goes all miserable, and tells me off for everything in the universe.
It is not my fault that the moon does not rise quickly enough, or the washing machine seems to be spinning a bit slow.
I wish that I could understand "the ladies problem".
Us men have difficulty in undersanding sometimes.
I don't think that you have any medical problems, but of course have a word with your GP. Seek assurance that all is OK.

It takes about two years to get into a proper sort of rhythem so don't get too worried. Go to the doctors and they'll ask you about your diet (if you are too thin or overweight it does effect your period) and they might put you on the contraceptive pill because with that you sort of choose when you start your period and when you stop (Genius, the guy that invented the pill needs a big kiss). Don't worry, I hate going to doctors, but it'll take five minutes and all be over quickly, you'll be ok.

i am 19 and i also started when I was 15. i'm irregular, this means that i had a period about once every 4-5 months. i talked to my mom and got on birth control. it helped a lot. it also made me a lot happier! and my acne was cleared. it is really hard to ask your mom i know, but it is nessasry! your grandmother may have the same thing. i know me and my grandmother both are like this GOOD LUCK!!

Be worth going to the docs but it sounds normalish some people just don't have regular periods.

Don't worry, this sounds very normal to me. You started a little late (I was the same age myself), and it's very normal for them to be irregular for a few years afterwards, so I don't think there is anything fo you to worry about.

i woud say that sonds fairly normal because it takes quite a long time for them to be regular
dont worry but if you want to be completely sure get a doctors opion you dont have parent consent to go there
hope everything will turn out fine!

I definitely think you should see a doctor. If you don't want to go to your family doctor, you should try Planned Parenthood. You don't need parental consent to see a doctor there. If you did tell your mom though, I imagine she would be very supportive.

I think you should get checked over. You got them a bit late which isn't totally unusual but its not normal not to get them every month.
