Anyone remember not too long ago when the coalition attacked Iraq and we bombed Baghdad. A stupid phrase by a General talked about the tactics of Shock and Awe.
Its come home to the USA - "Shocking and Awfull" as we get our young men killed - for what?

Shock and Awe was the military name for the campaign in Iraq - every military / secret service campaign is given a name and this was the one thought up for the Iraqi campaign. Its title misled every unthinking individual as to the purpose of the Iraqi invasion. The whole purpose of the invasion was to tear up Saddam's oil contracts with Putin and the French and to ensure that Iraqi oil was sold lock stock and barrel to American petroleum firms for the next forty years. That objective has been achieved. In compensation the Russians are getting mega millions for breach of contract and have their own oil fields by which they are exerting political control over Europe.

The Iraqi campaign was always about petrodollars and oil extraction and s*d winning the peace. If you have a weak Iraqui Government trying to keep the peace they will not question all those dodgy petro contracts. The sad fact is that so many Americans believe the spin that they are fighting against terrorism when in fact American soldiers are laying down their lives for the bottom line of American oil companies. Shock and awe it ain't - Bucks and Oil it is.

For what you ask. Here is for what. There have not been any terrorist attacks on US soil since 9/11 and I bet that the fact that the terrorist have their hands full at home might have something to do with that. Yes some of our people are being killed over there but the death count from the war is not as big as the count from the world trade center even now. If you are so naive to believe that Saddam would not have helped Asama get the weapons to kill mass numbers of Americans then I guess you will never understand the importance of taking the battle to the terrorist. The whole war has not been handled perfect but hind sight is 20/20. No one could foresee how things would play out.

Shock and Awe did what it was suppose to do, which was to quickly destroy the enemy government. The trouble is, it's not a nation building strategy, which is the Powell doctrine and the Powell doctrine doesn't solve the problem of a completely incompetent population as seen in Iraq. But rebuilding efforts take time. There were church bombings in the Southern U.S. 100 years after the end of the Civil War, it took 9 years to rebuild Japan and Germany (and the U.S. is still in Japan and Germany), we are still in South Korea (Korean War), but our biggest stay the course the course hold ups have been from the Spanish American War (bases in Cuba, the Phillipines and Puerto Rico)! You would think the U.S. would have withdrawn from the Spanish American War by now.

Shock and awe only works when you know your enemy,if your
army cant find somebody to drop bombs on then you have to
change tactics.Vietnam ring any bells you can drop as many
bombs as you like, but if they don't hit anybody what good are
they. And for what you say-for oil plain and simple welcome
to the petrowars where oil and lies are worth more than truth
and lives(IRAN will be next)Wake up to the truth people before
its to late and more of our brave servicemen die for GWB and
his oil addiction.

For nothing, or worse. The world may now be a more dangerous place because of the amount of hatred this war has stoked. I've never understood why, when our enemies are islamic fundamentalists, we went to take down a military dictator who ran one of the most secular countries in the middle east.

"Shock and awe, technically known as rapid dominance, is a military doctrine based on the use of "overwhelming decisive force", "dominant battlefield awareness", "dominant maneuvers", and "spectacular displays of power" to "paralyze" an adversary's perception of the battlefield and destroy its will to fight."

It worked in the first war, we should employ the same tactics now. Nothing says "Give it up or die" more than employing overwhelming decisive force.

I am glad I served my country, and would go back in a heartbeat if asked to insure everyone has the right to speak their mind, no matter if it is truth or BS.

shock and awe was an 'impressive' way of saying "lets bomb the crap out of the country with long distance missles until they give up". The whole Iraq war was a disaster.

Kim Kardashian is and could consistently be agency minded. This marraige change into no longer something more desirable than a plot to get even extra funds. you will see there is not any chemistry between them... it is not any marvel to me.

The Muslim / Arab world has realised that they don't need nuclear weapons to defeat us. Just Guerilla warfare dressed as civilians.
