How can a politican sit before a t v camera and tell ballface lies without being a crimnal ?

I thought this was the same as perjury.My astonishment is that these people know that we know they are lying and do it anyway, Is that office that they are holding that desirable that they would do anything to keep it? There must be something adictive or is it some sort of perverted game they are playing? I want to believe that they really whole heartily want to serve their country and also help to world afterward we get ourselves on course,but somtimes i just think there is something "rotten in denmark"maybe i'm just a dumb country redneck but it just dont add up.

Lying is the number one skill of a successful politician. How would it go over with you if a politician on TV attempting to get elected would say, " The reason I want your vote is because this office requires practically no work or effort. I'm so lazy I can hardly get out of bed. This job would be perfect for me.
I don't know much about the job, and really am interested only in the big fat salary. So please vote for me so that I can begin enjoying the good life. Thank you very much ".
This is honesty, but it doesn't put politicians in those big money,great prestige, no- work jobs.
As for perjury-- - that's lying only if you're under oath. Otherwise anything goes. May the best liar win.

Politicians are members of what I call the Criminal Class. They are expected to lie. The courts pretty much give them immunity. It is getting hard to decide which of the three branches is the most corrupt. The House of Representatives is the area where the people can make a difference. They are up for re-election every other year. They can impeach a president (unless he blackmails them with FBI files like Clinton did). Don't look to the Supreme Court for relief. They have distorted the Constitution since FDR (and before).

Perjury is lying under oath in a court of law, and unless politicians do this then there is really very little to stop them saying whatever they damn well please. There are serious implications if a politician is found to be lying in Parliament, however this is very difficult to prove and it is not in anyones interests to have the House uncovered as a group of self-serving liars.

As the saying goes, power is the ultimate aphrodisiac. People lie to achieve office, lie to keep it and lie to stop others getting it. Unfortunately there is no legislation in place to prevent politicians lieing, and until there is then my guess is that they will continue to do so ad infinitum.

It seems to be getting worse as the years go by... thank goodness the political commercials are done now that the elections are done (here in US). It has been sickening watch all the slander/ back stabbing- good thing there is a MUTE button!

The vast majority of politicians are scum. They aren't politicians to help their country they are there to earn loads of money. They all lie, cheat, and deceive in order to get what they want, its the same in the UK and i find it disgusting that these people are still in power.

Of course power is addictive and you are naive. Who doesn't want to keep their job? When you throw in all the perks and the prestige, they want to hold on those jobs even more than us ham and eggers.
