I would suppose that the cold would cause your body to send more blood to your fingers to try to warm them up, causing a darker appearance. It happens to me too, only for me it's more blotchy and web-looking, because I'm very white and my skin is sometimes close to translucent. I wouldn't worry about it.

Poor circulation can cause your fingers to be a darker color.
Also, if they start to hurt more than "normal" cold fingers do, and get even colder, then get to someplace to warm them up - fast. That means you are nearing frostbite and you can eaither get serious nerve damage or loose fingers over it. (I have almost no feeling in the tips of my fingers thanks to near frostbite, and I can promise you it's not fun).

Not getting enough circulation can cause that. Try doing dome exercizes for fingers and arms, walk more and keep them warm!
Drink more fluids to!

If you ar talking about you nail beds it maybe b/c you need extra iron. You could have iron deficiency anemia. I do and my nail beds look purple in the white.

u get cold.. ur blood kinda freezes or smthg... lol.. just kidding.. i really dunno.. :S:S i'd like 2 know that myself
