Dial up speed is based on a couple things (modem speed, server speed, line conditions) but none of them are based on the company you use. The best thing to do is use the free trials of many & see which gives you the best connection and speed. All should be around 48k (forgot the fact that it is a 56k modem as NONE will connect at that speed since the telephone companies will not allow it).

Do not be suckered into any turbo boost crap that they offer (claiming to let you browse twice as fast). It is a play on words as all it lets you do is "browse" twice as fast. It will make pages load faster but it will not make anything you do faster (download things, play games, send things, upload things).

You might want to look close at DSL specials. When cable came out there was a war with them & DSL. As cable got faster & faster the only way DSL could compete was to lower the price at first & then make different DSL speed packages. There are some 1.5MB speed DSL packages out there now for as little as $12.99 a month, which is only a few dollars more then dialup.

Fastest Dial Up Modem

Like a couple on here have stated the fastest Dial-up service you can get is 56Kbs. This is because the FCC has regulated that is maximum analog signal that can go across the copper.

There are some companies that provide web accelorators, that cache the your visited pages for quicker viewing the next time you visit.

I think the fastest dial up connection now is still 56K. I don't think a faster dial up modem has been put on the market yet.
