I'm UK born and bred but am tired of the "deterent" excuse. Multilateral disarmament is the way to go but who is going to be the most couragest and say "OK, let's end this dumb game!"

Its not ok

US thinks they are the self proclaimed best country in the world. They feel that they are in control and as such every one should listen. No one should disagree, if they do they are shunned.

It is a game, a game for power, its no wonder why other countries have arms,, cant blame them, if you dont have a good relation with the US they could technically bomb you... and whos going to police the police then??

Once all 'enemies' are disarmed the US can and probably will conquer the world, not through militray means of course but through political fear, if a deal is produced and it largly favours the US whos going to say no it when you have a Nuke sighted straight for you??

Because the leaders of these nations think that they own the world.
They want to rule the world and that's why they want to keep nuclear technology to themselves only.
Every body knows that is why no body lends an ear to the UK/US.

India, Pakistan and now North Korea have tested nuclear devices.
And guess what yes new countries will join the group too.
(Japan, South Korea, Iran etc)

its not ok
and i support multilateral disarmament
but what do you do when another kim jong-il comes along and says he wants a dictators toy.

on the other hand the us and the uk seem to think that they are a parallel dynamic duo (b & r).
i don't understand what seems to give them a right to be the vigilante and say ur good and ur evil.
sure i wouldn't trust Syria and N Korea with 'noocular' weapons but what allows Israel to keep them.

i believe its important to first rid conflict zones of nukes then decide what to do with the remaining cookies

The world is not safe from the "Saddam Hussein's" of the world with regular (?) arms. Without the "deterrent" of the US (!), how could we ensure that there would not be a nuclear build-up by another country/dictator? We can't! The truth of the matter is that the US is the world's police force without title or acknowledgment just on the fact that we exist.

Nobody will because it is how politicians in the US/UK prove their virility. 'Look, mine's bigger than yours.' It is a total nonsense for the UK to spend billions and billions on this when we can't afford to fund the health service, have decent public transport, etc., etc.
