I am going to be babysitting my friend's 6 year old son while his parents are away. i'll probably spend 6-7 nites babysitting. My friend works nights, so I will have to spend the night in my friend's home to look after the boy. some of my duties include : waking the boy up for school, ( 3 hours earlier then i usually get up) preparing his breakfast, and getting him dressed while gettin myself dressed for work. while just making sure nothing goes wrong at night. how much money is reasonable to ask for with this kind of job?

It sounds like what you are doing for your friend goes beyond baby sitting it's more like a temporary nanny while she is away. I'd think abot 200 or somewhere around $30 a night.

There are other considerations.
Since you are staying at the home, do you have access to food, entertainment, telephone, etc. That has to be figured in.
Will you be responsible for clean-up, washing clothes, etc.
How much trouble will the child be? You know, like Calvin & Hobbs.

Then, it is your friend. What, if any, value do you place on that.

I know that there should be a minimum, but, I tend to go with the "Whatever you think is fair" rate.

It adds to your character, maintains a friendship and just may be more valuable than fixing a price.

Whenever my daughter babysits she always tells them to pay her whatever they think is fair. It never fails that she gets paid more than she would have ever asked for. It also takes this issue off of her back and allows then to figure out what is reasonable. Good luck.

my baby sitter used to charge my family 6.25/hr (this was also about 15 years ago), but i would say 7 or 8 an hour, you dont want it to be rediculus ya know, but you still want a fair pay.

I'd say $25 per night would be reasonable.
