I've never worn slippers outdoors - what if I stepped on something sharp? - but I've worn lounge pants/ pajama bottoms out to run quick errands before (usually to return a video/ DVD when there was a deadline involved). I wouldn't think much of it one way or another of somebody else doing it, unless the pants had a really wild print on them (in which case I might giggle). I would just figure the practice was a remnant of their college years.
EDIT: Wow! I had no idea there were so many uptight, judgmental people with nothing better to get upset over than people who wear lounge pants out in public! Jeez, why don't you get upset over something like global warming or injustice in the world?!?!

I don't mind the lounge pants so much because I love sweats myself but the slippers? I just don't get that. Worse for me is the low rise jeans where the fat hangs out all the way around and there is a possibility of seeing butt crack. GROSS!!!!!

It doesn't bother me... I mean if the person is feeling comfortable. I have done it, like in the mornings when I wake up on a weekend and realize there is no milk, its an in and out thing so I go in my 'jamis or slippers... i feel embarrassed but I figured its only 10 mins and I'm out! =)

I think that if I took the time to put pants and shoes on, that everyone else should too. I wouldn't be caught dead in public in lounge pants and slippers.

Slippers is a bit tacky! lol However, loungepants, it doesn't bother me, they make so many cute ones. I do go out at the weekend in my sleep pants sometimes.

I'm not sure what lounge pants are, but I think slippers are pretty tacky in public.

I think that they dont care what people think. and on occasion if i'm just running down to the store I may wear my lounge pants. and besides, with todays fashion i dont think many would notice.

I see it all the time in California. I wouldn't do it, but, it doesn't really bother me. I do think that clean, unripped jammies are must and women should wear bras out in this gear. I have worked in retail and have seen women shop braless in ripped tee-shirts and pajama bottoms---GROSS!
