My son is having the worst time with math. We have repeatedly asked for help and finally have got an intervention (sigh) meeting with district mojo workers. But I feel better trying to get him to understand it at home. i'm sure they will suggest a totally un- helpful IEP. He does average to above in all other subjects and is otherwise fine. Has friends, participates in sports and band. He just can't grasp math. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.Thank you!

your child's school might have project Think.com. he can get a lot of help from teachers all over the world there.
as far as general maths is concerned let him try to solve similar problems first say 10 problems of same kind, then move on to next kind of problem. maths is all about practice when he will start solving problems, he will automatically feel motivated. let him put his hands into the easiest things first and then the complex things.
mathematics is not a gifted thing its practice and only practice.

Hi. I have had luck using math.com website to teach basic math to my nephew. It's totally free and they have lessons, tests, games, homework, and instruction area's. I hope it helps.

You just choose the type of Math you are looking for help with on the lefthand side of their home page.

At the top you can click on the 'parent' view and it gives instructions, tips, lesson plans ,etc to parents trying to teach their kids.
