I've got a problem with my laptop...my CD-ROM isn't working..it just reads DVDs not CDs...so when my windows crashed I have no idea how to reinstall windows...bootable cd won't work and I have no idea how to get into DOS because the laptop doesn't have a floppy...any suggestions?

All DVD drives will read CDs.

Tap the F-10 key, while your computer is booting up. This will open up the "system recovery" program, and just follow the directions. It will clean everything off of your hard drive, so make sure you back up programs, you want to save. When you are finished, your computer will look exactly like the day you bought it. Make sure you run windows updates first, in express mode. Install your antivirus, and your firewall..good luck..

If it will read a DVD, then it will read a CD.

Check the CD for damage or dirt

clean the head with a DVD cleaner
