There are 8 electrons present .

IT is an excited state state for oxygen called singlet oxygen since there are no electrons unpaired all orbitals have 2 electrons

Going to the ground state which is triplet oxygen , energy will be released

there are none unpaired electrons. they are 8 electrons present. I don't know about the exicted pair, but it might be more ground state, although pairing energi is higher in this configuration. Energy is released when going to the ground state .
