sometimes an attorney can get a defendant out without bail..released on their own recognizance (ROR) then you won't have to raise bail money. Another option, if bail has been set, is if there are bail bondsmen available in your area. They are companies that specialize in paying bail for people who don't have access to cash but do have other assets that secure the bond...homes, cars, stocks, investments.

However, if someone has been denied bail because it is a murder case, then they have to remain in jail until the trial is over and they are either acquitted and released or sent to prison.

If you personally can't bail them out, you can either call a bail bondsman who may choose to offer bail for a percentage of the total bail amount.

If bail is not allowed or the bail bondsman does not choose to put up the bail, then they just stay in jail.

They stay in prison until a hearing where they get their final sentence. The bail is just so that they do not have to stay in prison before trail. The actual money you give down is just a sum of money you give to secure an accused person's temporary release and to confirm that the person will appear before court at a later date.
