follow the top radiator hose to the engine, the thermostat is inside the thing that the hose bolts to, remove the bolts that hold it to the intake manifold, there are two, 14mm or 9/16" size
very easy job
of the thermostat is bad the engine will overheat at all time, also if the waterpump or radiator are bad
if its getting hot only at idle and slow speed then its not the thermostat, it would be the fan not working almost always, the clutch in it is worn out, or if its electric thne it doesnt come on when the temp switch says to
