Purchasing power parity (PPP) conversion factors take into account differences in the relative prices of goods and services—particularly non-tradables—and therefore provide a better overall measure of the real value of output produced by an economy compared to other economies.
If you want my personal opinion concerning economic performance and standards of living I'd say . . . . better than many countries/comfortable however if you're obsessed with buying and possessing stuff then this is not the place for you.

No, the Philippines is in the poorer half of asia. The richest countries in Asia are: Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and some of the wealthier middle-east countries (UAE, Israel, Kuwait..)
