Does anyone have anygreat gift wrapping ideas that are different I just hate the printed stuff with Santa and snowflakes on it. I like a more classic and clean look. Thanks for any help.

Use some plain brown craft/package mailing paper to wrap the gift and use some brown velvet ribbon to tie it but instead of a bow, get some silk poinsettia picks and spray paint them gold, run a bead of white glue along the edges of the petals and dip in gold glitter. Once dry, put an arrangement of these picks on top of the package where the bow would normally be. An alternative to the poinsettias would be picks of berries, acorns and pine cones that you paint and glitter in gold. Both make elegant looking monochromatic packages.

Then just use plain paper and decorate! Felt, beads, etc. I wrapped some presents one year in different color metallic papers and cut snowflakes out of paper and glued them on. Very pretty. On some instead of bows I made origami things. I even looked up ways to fold money on the internet and used that as bows. That went over great. If I can find the sight I will add it to my answer. One dollar billed was folded as if it was a folded shirt. Very cute.

If the gifts are for children use the comic pages from the Sunday paper; for adults try using light fabric and accessorize (for ladies use jewelry, men use small tools or hardware etc). You can use wide ribbon and weave it to look like a basket. There are tons of possibilities!

Hi!

I don't know how much trouble you want to go to BUT!, one year I did my packages totally in fabric remnants from a drapery/upholstery warehouse. Damask, silk, you name it! It was cheap and it was fun since they don't really use their little pieces.

Another time I carved a potatoe....cut potatoe or yam in half and just carve a simple design. Star, snowflake...dip in acrylic paint and plain paper becomes bizarro!

Have fun!
